Air Waybill (AWB)
An air waybill (AWB) is the transport document for an air shipment and the evidence of the contract of carriage between the shipper and the airline.
Its 11-digit number (a 3-digit airline prefix plus an 8-digit serial) identifies the shipment from origin to destination. Unlike an ocean bill of lading, an AWB is not negotiable.
