Inside Belli's AI Operating System: Recap from the Jakarta AI Meetup with OCBC

Belli co-founders Jeff Pan and Alex Khor took the stage on June 6, 2026 in Jakarta for "Building an AI Operating System for Cargo," a talk hosted with OCBC and supported by Vercel and Singapore Global Network.

Infrastructure first

Jeff opened with a detour through 1800s Paris: before Haussmann rebuilt the city's underground pipes, cholera killed roughly 1 in 32 residents. Once the plumbing was fixed, 60% of Paris's current buildings went up in a single building boom. The parallel: unglamorous infrastructure work is what lets everything after it move fast.

A cargo knowledge base, built for agents

Belli works inside legacy-heavy environments, so a lot of institutional cargo knowledge lives only in people's heads. Alex walked through how Belli documents that knowledge once, in plain markdown and reuses it both to onboard new engineers and as direct context for its AI agents.

Forward-deployed, ontology-first

Belli's engineers work on-site with airlines like Etihad, Emirates and the Lion Air Group. Before writing any code, the team spends the first few days mapping every point where data currently leaks into a spreadsheet or a single person's memory. Palantir alumni call it an "ontology" of the business.

Transparency as infrastructure

Internally, Belli routes calls, documents and tickets into one connected system so any engineer has full context on a project without waiting on a handoff.

Betting on new engineers

Several of Belli's fastest-moving engineers joined with little to no airline experience and were leading client workstreams within months
